Eva Hasel de Cavalho
Eva Hasel de Cavalho is a science manager at Heidelberg University. She studied Molecular Life Sciences at Maastricht University before completing an M.Sc. in Developmental Biology at Heidelberg University. She then pursued her PhD at Heidelberg University’s Centre for Organismal Studies, where she investigated EGFR signalling in the medaka fish (Oryzias latipes). As a postdoctoral fellow in Maria Leptin’s group at EMBL Heidelberg she developed optogenetic tools to study immune-cell biology and programmed cell death in fish models. In addition to her postdoc she took over the role as lab manager of the Leptin group and followed a Master Program in Science Management at the University of Speyer.
Since 2023, Eva works as a project manager and administrator in the Wittbrodt group, she organises events, offers writing support and developed a project management course for master students. Eva is also involved in initiatives that connect science with the wider public, including SPARK@COS and literallySCIENCE, an educational project that encourages young people to address real-world problems using scientific methods
