Lisa Görs
Lisa Görs is a scientist and R&D leader whose career has taken her across molecular biology, microbiology, synthetic biology and immunology, and between academia, industry and startup development. She studied Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge and earned her PhD in Synthetic Biology and Molecular Biology from Imperial College London, developing bacterial biosensors for industrial applications.
She then moved to Boston for postdoctoral research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School before returning to Germany. There she joined The Cultivated B, a biotechnology company working in cultivated meat and cellular agriculture, where she led the development of a new scientific project.
Today, Lisa works at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), where she leads Project EpiTrace, exploring how epigenetic information can be translated from fundamental research into practical tools for animal health, livestock and food production.
Across these roles, Lisa has been driven by curiosity, learning, and the desire to do meaningful work that benefits people and planet. She has mentored numerous students and early-career scientists in research and career development.
Alongside her scientific career, Lisa is a mother of three who loves sports, reading, asking too many questions, and learning new things. Her career has involved changing fields, countries and sectors several times and she tries to approach the unexpected with curiosity, pragmatism and a sense of humour.
